She's gearing up for the 2018 (or 2022) Winter Olympics. Here five-year-old Zoë takes to the ice for only the second time in her young life, and proceeds to skate wonderfully. It was a joy to spend these 90 minutes with her on the rink -- covered by a roof, but partially exposed to the elements, a nice combination -- at Buhr Park in Ann Arbor, which also is a great facility in warmer months, with its pools and other amenities. I even strapped on the blades for the first time in decades, and am glad I did so. We'll have to do this again soon, and bring along Mary, as days like this are precious.
